Doris Jean Poythress, 90, of Wilson passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Kevin Teague will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 14, 2024, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Janet Raetz and husband, Robert of Middlesex; son, Kenneth Poythress and wife, Terry of Wilson; grandchildren, Jenni Collins and husband, Chris of Wilson, Heather Bass and husband, Chad of Lucama, Courteney Roten and husband, Justin of Hampstead, Sonya Horton of Sims, April Lindsey of Wilson, Josh Raetz of Wendell, and Sydney Raetz of New York; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Makenzie, Anderson, Lilly, Madison, Emma, Asher, Lucas, Bella, Brayden, Mattie, Alex, and Carter; brother, Aydren Flowers and wife, Jeannette of Raleigh, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Carrol Poythress; parents, Elton and Lona Flowers, great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Grace Smith; sister, Myrtle Crawford and her brother, R.E. Flowers, Jr.
