Doris Rose Russo, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on November 24, 1945, in Portland, Oregon, Doris spent her younger years living in between Alaska and Portland, Oregon. Doris' life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her friends and family. She was an incredible mother, always offering an abundance of love and support to her own children as well as others. Doris found immense joy in traveling, spending time with her family and had a special love for her grandchildren. She was an avid quilter and found great pleasure in creating beautiful quilts for her loved ones. Doris was also known for her warm hospitality, always welcoming friends and family into her home with open arms. Additionally, she was a proud breast cancer survivor of 30 years demonstrating her incredible strength and resilience.
We will always remember Doris as a beacon of kindness, compassion, and generosity. Her infectious smile and laughter brightened the lives of everyone around her. Doris' legacy of love and her unshakeable spirit will continue to inspire us.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Isabelle Griffith, her husband James Russo, and her siblings, Jerry Griffith, David Griffith, and Ina Struss. She is survived by her sister Kay Swearingen, her children Nina (Mike) Dotson, Nicole (Brian) Kassing, and Tom (Shelly) Russo, and her four grandchildren James Dotson, Zach (Chloe) Dotson, Henley Russo, and Marin Russo. Doris also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Newcomer St. Peters Chapel located at 827 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Peters, MO 63376. Additional visitation will take place the following morning, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 9:30am until 10:30am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Chapel of Dardenne Prairie located at 7701 Town Square Avenue, Dardenne Prairie, MO 63368. A Funeral Mass will follow beginning at 10:30am. Interment will take place privately at a later date.
