PERRYSBURG -- Doris A. Sanderson, 93, of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Elizabeth Scott Community. She was born March 22, 1932 in Continental, Ohio to Rollie and Myrtle (Spangler) Gordon. She married Richard Sanderson at the age of 19 on May 6, 1951 and they spent 74 loving years together.
Doris worked for a few businesses, ending her career at the Fashion Closet in Perrysburg. She enjoyed the water and beach and loved their house on Lake Doster in Plainwell, MI. She enjoyed traveling with Richard to Vero Beach and Fort Meyers, Florida. She liked watching athletics of all types especially Ohio State football and track and field. She and Richard attended the Olympic Games in 1984 and 1996. Doris took great pleasure in her grandchildren whether it was watching cross country meets, baseball games, singing performances or spending quality time during the summer months when they came to visit.
She will be remembered for her outgoing personality. She loved being around people and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Everyone who knew her knows that she had a funny sense of humor and laughed a lot.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Stephen (Cathy) Sanderson and Leslie Munger; grandchildren, Sarah (Ross) Bextermueller, Lindsay (Adam) Andrews, Scott (Amanda) Sanderson; Peter Munger and Nicholas Munger; great-grandchildren, Elliott, Weston, Addley, Harry, Zeke, Eliza, Grant and Zoey. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, George, Donald and Shirley.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 11-12 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
The family is deeply grateful to the people at Elizabeth Scott Community and Hospice of Northwestern Ohio for the care they provided Doris.
