Doris Lee Savchick Boyles, 89, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, passed away, Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at her home with her precious family at her side. She was born April 14th, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Sigmond “Joe” and Anna Melvina (Wells) Savchick. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, R Nelson Boyles.
Doris was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Lake Ouachita Baptist Church in Mt. Ida, Arkansas since 1995 where she and Nelson established the dining hall kitchen that continues to serve others. She served the Mt. Ida community by volunteering weekly at a local thrift store during the past decade. In Little Rock where they raised their children, her family were active members of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was employed as bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed family time, reading, singing in church choirs, sewing and crochet, flea markets, table games, camping, volunteering and watching the Razorbacks play. She was always full of life, love, joy and laughter!
Doris is survived by her daughters, Diana (Doug) Smith, Karen (John) Crockett, Pamela (Dr. Jeff) Griffin, her son Robb (Leslie) Boyles, grandchildren Brent (Tonya) Smith, Tyler (Amanda) Smith, Lauren (Andrew) Rozell, Steve Crockett, Melissa Crockett, Cali (Michael) Wilson, Jenna Griffin, Landon (Maddie) Boyles and Jordyn (Jordan) Gay, 12 great-grandchildren, sisters, Joanne (Tom) Martin and Nancy Herrick, brother, Hays (Sandy) Savchick, many nieces, nephews, a host of other family and friends, also by longtime companion E.J. Emery and family.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, 5:00-7:00pm at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 4th, 2025, 10:00am at Lake Ouachita Baptist Church in Mount Ida with Brother Ty Huitt officiating. The burial will take place at 1pm at Pinecrest Memorial Garden in Alexander, Arkansas. The Pallbearers will be Doug Smith, John Crockett, Jeff Griffin, Brent Smith, Tyler Smith, Steve Crockett and Landon Boyles. Memorial Donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
