Doris Schechterly (nee Hoida) passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at the age of 86.
She was the beloved wife of Barry Schechterly; loving daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn Hoida; devoted mother of Joyce (Dan) Kallbrier, Alan Schechterly, Gary (Dorothy) Schechterly and special family friend, Jane Powell; loving grandma of six grandchildren, great-granny of eleven and great-great-grandma of two. She is survived by her cherished sisters Evelyn (Dan) Roob and Janice Hoida. She was preceded in death by brothers Bobby and Ed.
Doris and Barry celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year, expressing their longtime love and commitment to one another. Doris always looked forward to getting together with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with Barry and loved telling about their various trips, especially their cruise to Alaska. Doris was on a bowling team for years and even after she no longer bowled, she would sit on the side-lines and root her team on. The St. Louis Cardinals had a very devoted fan in Doris. If there was a game on and if possible, she was watching.
Doris was a member of Christview Christian Church in St. Charles. She was employed by J.C. Penney for over thirty years, from which she retired.
Doris will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We are thankful to know that she is now at peace with God.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Doris's name to American Cancer Society.
