Doris Schmaus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chubenko Funeral Home - Port Reading on Mar. 31, 2025.
Doris Schmaus, 94, (nee Trainor) gained her angel wings in the early morning hours of Sunday March 30, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Guttenberg NJ, she moved to Carteret when she married Louis Schmaus in 1957.
She is pre-deceased by her parents Frank and Margaret Trainor, her siblings Margaret McMahon, Frank Trainor, Grace Magnolia, Anna Trainor, Florence Wardell, Lillian Cook and Robert Trainor, as well as her loving husband Louis Schmaus, and favorite son-in-law Bohdan Tkaczyk. She is survived by her daughter Doris Tkaczyk, her son Louis Schmaus and his wife Nancy, and son Larry Schmaus; her grandchildren Larissa Cruz and her husband Angel, Amy Bodnar and her husband Garrett, Sara Tkaczyk, Alex Schmaus and his wife Casey, Abigail Schmaus and great granddaughter Cassidy Bodnar along with many nieces and nephews.
Doris loved her family above all else, and always ended a visit or conversation with the phrase "love you more". She was a wonderful cook and baker, especially at holidays. She loved to play cards with her friends, visits to Atlantic City, but most of all she loved to have her family around her.
She strived to reach 100 but will forever be 21 to us. There's a big party going on in heaven and Mom is doing the cooking. We love you more Mom.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. Entombement will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Doris may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
