She was born on August 16, 1939, in Washington DC to the late John G. Bokar and Doris E. Albright Bokar Wilson.
Doris was a graduate of Anacostia High School in Washington DC. She became a stenographer and worked as a secretary in the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. for the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts. She became involved in making quilts for veterans through the Honor Flight program, and for women in recovery through Bethel Colony of Mercy. Doris shared her legacy of gardening, canning, sewing, and cooking with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents John G. and Doris E. Bokar, and stepfather Claude O. Wilson Jr., and by her loving husband of 61 years, Edward F. Schroen.
