Doris M Smith

Doris M.Smith, 89 years old, formerly of Newport, passed away at the home of her son with her family by her side on March 25, 2023 She was born May 24, 1933 in Newport to Clair and Elizabeth (Campbell) Stambaugh. She was a member of the Newport First Church of God and enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, cooking and traveling with her husband.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Ray E. Smith, who passed away September 2019 after 69 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons, Marty Ray Smith (Mary) of Elliottsburg and Ronald Ray Smith of Newport; daughter Carol E. Poticher (Mike) of Renovo ; grandchildren Rick Zeigler (Jennifer), Jeffrey Smith (Amanda), Stephanie Smith, Michael Ray Smith and Wendy Poticher and great grandchildren Brooke and Kirsten Zeigler. She was preceded in death by sisters, Lois McKensie and Kay Kapp.
Services will be held Friday, March 31 from the David Myers Funeral Home, Newport with a viewing from 11 AM until the funeral service at 12 PM with Pastor Mary Kay Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, please remember Doris with a contribution to Newport First Church of God or Hospice of Central Pa.
