Doris Poston Smith

Doris Poston Smith, 90, of Winnsboro, SC passed away on February 1, 2026.

Born on December 4, 1935, in Winnsboro, she was the daughter of the late Morse William Poston and Dora Sanders Poston.

She married the love of her life, Charles Smith, in 1954 and they celebrated 54 years together before his passing in 2010.

Doris is survived by two sons, C. David Smith (Linda) of Blythewood, SC and Thomas W. Smith (Tammy) of Winnsboro, SC; two grandchildren, Marc Smith, Brooke Mastrangelo (Anthony), and great-grandson Brayden Mastrangelo; and her siblings, Helen Mincey, Sandra Ramsey, and Nancy Boone. She is also survived by very special family friends, Gene and Vicky Kelly, MaryGail Douglas, and Vicky Melvin.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by her infant grandson, Robert Ashford Smith; and her siblings, Hattie Branham, Billy Poston, Betty Carlton, Becky Medlin, Lonnie Poston and Richard Poston.

A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Smith will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 3:00 at First Baptist Church, 1373 Newberry Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180. Burial will follow at Stephen Greene Memorial Garden, 9th Street, Winnsboro, SC 29180.

The family will receive friends and family prior to the service beginning at 1:30 at First Baptist Church.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
