Kranz Funeral Home - Cass CityDORIS THERESA STIMPFEL
Doris T. Stimpfel, 81, of Cass City died peacefully Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in her home. Doris was born January 7, 1945, in Paris Township to Edmund F. and Leona M. (O’Parka) Peplinski. Doris graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School, Ruth, in 1963. For a short time, she worked in Detroit. On August 3, 1964, Doris married her high school sweetheart, US Navy sailor Thomas A. Stimpfel in Newport, R.I. Eventually they returned to Michigan and raised their four children in Cass City. Doris worked at General Cable for twenty seven years before retiring in 2001, when the plant closed.
A happy, energetic person, she was a very skilled trap shooter at the Cass City Gun Club and found joy in dancing whether line dancing or belly dancing. Doris loved her family and the many gatherings and bon fires where she made more than enough food for all. Time spent with her sisters always led to fun and crazy adventures. She had a creative mind, always focused on making her house a loving and festive home, especially during the holidays. Doris enjoyed time spent volunteering at Revive and the Octagon Barn, and especially loved spending many hours with her Novesta Church of Christ family, greeting parishioners, making quilts, organizing swap days, and serving luncheons.
Doris is survived by her children: Tammie Stimpfel of Bay City; Renae (Todd) Sweaney of New River, AZ; Thomas C. (Sloane) Stimpfel of Deford; James E. (Teri) Stimpfel of Cass City; grandchildren: “Bash”, Tristan, and Kyran Robb; Bransen and CarLee Stimpfel; Kate, Kenneth, and Kristin Stimpfel; great-grandson, Jackson D. Soule; siblings: Virgil (Delphine) Peplinski, Marie Maurer, Janet (Ed) Idyle, Shirlee Brownson, Sharon (Barry) Fisher, Karen (Leonard) Maurer. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Thomas A. Stimpfel.
Visitation will take place Friday, April 17, 2026 in Novesta Church of Christ from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Brad Speirs officiating. Interment has taken place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorials may be made to Novesta Church of Christ.
