Doris Strickland Obituary
Doris Harris Strickland, 73, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 in her home. Ms. Strickland was born on September 28, 1952 in Roanoke Rapids, the daughter of the late Doris Gregory Harris and Jesse Franklin Harris. She was also preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and husband for over 50 years, Frankie Odell Strickland, her loving son Jamie Douglas Strickland and her sister Jenny Haislip.
Surviving include her son Anthony “Tony” Strickland and his wife Wendy, her granddaughter Halyn Jean Strickland and her mom Brooke Lynn Teel, her granddaughter Kimberly Traverse, great granddaughter Nora Kathleen Traverse, great grandson Joel Anthony Traverse, her sister Donna Mosley, her live in caregiver Debra Poston and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Reverend Sammy D. Webb of First Church of Deliverance in Roanoke Rapids officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Friends can sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com.
