Benson, NC: Mrs. Doris Lee Surles, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM-Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1140 B.H. Parrish Road, Benson, NC 27504. Rev. Tim Bass and Rev. Turner Matthews will officiate. Private burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens, Dunn, NC.
Mrs. Surles was born in Harnett County, NC, to the late Fernie B. Lee and Iva Stevens Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raeford Surles, and siblings, Ina Langdon, James Lee, and Bruce Lee. Mrs. Surles was a retired bookkeeper with the family business, Surles Auto Sales, Inc. in Smithfield, NC. She was a founding member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mrs. Surles loved puzzles, games, cooking, and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for teaching and showing love to those she met.
Survivors include her children, Robert Lee Surles and wife, Beth; Jenny S. Parrish and husband, Eddie; and Teresa S. Wood and husband, Danny; grandchildren, Anna Surles Winters and husband, Brooks; Jeremy Parrish and wife, Mary Beth; Emilee P. Parker and husband, Daniel; Alex Wood and Kaitlyn Thomas; and Sarah Wood; great-grandchildren, Grant Parker, Kenlee Reese Winters, Bryson Parrish, Carter Parrish, Ansleigh Parker, Annastyn Winters, Harper Wood, Waylon Wood, and Remington Wood; several nieces, nephews, and honorary children and grandchildren.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers, and will receive friends at other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the Haiti Mission Fund or to the Youth Camp Fund at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1140 B.H. Parrish Road, Benson, NC 27504.
