Doris Witherspoon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caruth Village Funeral Home on Jan. 4, 2026.
Doris Witherspoon, 85, of Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas passed away January 2, 2026. She was born August 9, 1940 in Viernheim, Germany to Johann and Elisabeth Schinkel.
Doris was a loving and involved mother and grandmother first and foremost. She was an avid Astros baseball fan. She had a great passion for playing cards of all kinds, especially Texas Hold'em. Playing Bingo with her friends filled many of her days in the earlier years. She was an amazing cook and famous for her yeast rolls. Doris always had an open door policy, once you met her, you were family. She never missed a birthday, a family gathering of any kind, or even a trip to town. She was present! ALWAYS! Everyone that she loved knew they were loved, not by words but by her actions.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; son Hans Knochel, sister Herta Bean, great-grandson Hunter Gilbert.
Survivors include her loving husband Charles Witherspoon; daughter Stefanie (Carl) Kellar, son Charlie Witherspoon and son Hans (Phyllis) Witherspoon. Grandchildren; Billy (Tabbetha) Gilbert, Michelle (Jason) Stachey, Bryan Witherspoon, Brett Witherspoon. Great-grandchildren Lexy Gilbert, Will Gilbert, Halie Stone, Jaxon Stone, and Noah Witherspoon.
A celebration of Doris's life will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 5th at Caruth-Hale Life Celebration Center with a visitation before the service from 9-10 a.m.
Burial to follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Airport Road.
