DUE TO WEATHER THE SERVICES FOR DORIS WILL NOW BE HELD ON:
Wake: Friday, January 30th from 4-7 pm.
Funeral Service: Saturday morning, January 31st, at 10 am.
Doris M. (Saulnier) Young passed into Eternal rest on Monday, 1/12/26. She was 94. She was born in Belmont, Ma. On July 7,1931. She passed in the warmth, compassion and care of the Maristhill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waltham. Her Catholic faith was important to her. St Charles was her parish where she was a member of the choir. She passed with Rosary beads in hand.
We’re grateful that before entering Maristhill Doris was able to stay in her home for 3 years through the warmth, tender hands and kind souls of her assistants: Dina Warchal, Diane Bastarache, Joesphine Cacase, Gail Gardiner and Gwen Gardiner.
She was the last of the Saulnier clan (8 children) that grew up on Myrtle St. She was predeceased by her parents Irene (Comeau) and Leger Saulnier and her brother and sisters: Theresa Palmer, Harold Saulnier, Donald Saulnier, Hazel Grimes, Richard Saulnier, Robert Saulnier and Mary Gardiner.
She married Colin (Buddy) Young, Sr. and had 49 years together before his passing in 1992. She had 5 children: Judy, Deborah, Colin Jr, Kevin and Shawn. She was a “noon mother” for the Weston Public Schools for 36 years. A job she cherished and where the children loved her.
Years later, her and her husband were fortunate enough to experience the “thrill of their life”, purchasing a home on Ash St. And if you were good, you’d be invited into the teeny-weeny pool. No jumping or splashing. Lots of arts and crafts were taken in on the homestead by relatives and the neighborhood children. It gave her great joy! Her sister-in-law (Jane) and brother (Richard) lived 2 doors down. In later years, She enjoyed swimming with a group at the Waltham boys and girls club.
She had a special bond with her grand-children and God children. Grand children: Dina Warchal, Brandie Therencial (Waltham) and Kevin Young, Jr. (Tiffany) (Methuen), Shawn, Jr (Gina) (Walpole), and Ella Young (Walpole, Ma.). Great grandchildren: Steve Warchal (Etha) (Norton, Ma.), Daniel, Maite, Josh and Makaya Therencial (Brockton), Makel Young (Shrewsbury, Ma.), Jaxson Young (Walpole) and Nasir Young (Methuen, Ma.). Great-Great Grandchildren: Elijah and Autumn Warchal (Norton), Jasiah, Davien, Daniel Therencial (Brockton) Amira and Amaya Therencial (Fall River, Ma.)
Her 2 all-time favorite God children: Joyce Pereda (Buxton, Me.) and Aimee Saulnier (West Yarmouth, Ma.). Her all time favorite niece Gail Gardnier (Waltham, Ma.).
She leaves her children Colin, Jr. of Waltham, Ma, Kevin (Grace) of Methuen, Ma, Shawn, Sr. (Debra) of Walpole, Ma. Predeceased by her husband, Colin Sr, daughters Judy Sharpe, (Englewood, Fl), Deborah Bourbeau (Cambridge, Ma.) Her daughters recently died in September 2-1/2 days from one another.
