Dorothy graduated from Morehead High School and attended Morehead State College for two years. She taught school of multiple grades in a one-room schoolhouse and helped her grandmother run a drive-in restaurant before working as a bookkeeper for the Ford Dealership in Morehead. She was married and relocated to Anderson, IN when her husband Bill got a job with General Motors – Delco Remy. She then became a homemaker and mother of two. Upon his retirement, they moved back to Morehead, KY and restored her family's home place.
She enjoyed fixing up the old home place, vegetable gardening, taking walks in the woods, reading Mary Higgins Clark books, playing cards with family and friends and especially spending time with family and telling stories of her childhood growing up during the depression. She enjoyed listening around the radio for WWII news updates as well as all the antics she and her brothers got in to. She also recalled as a young woman taking a steam train to Lexington to shop with her mother and grandmothers and tales of her father's time working in the clay mines. She had a long full life and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Special thank you to the Compassus Hospice team for their care and kindness.
