Dorothy Arterburn passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025 at the age of 97. She was a devoted wife and mother to Jim Crossley and Kim Arterburn and will be deeply missed. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, Texas.
Dorothy was born September 22, 1928 in Windom, Texas to C.C. and Oliff Lewis. She married James Ross Crossley II in 1948 until his death in 1951. Dorothy married D.C. Arterburn in 1957 and moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1963. She worked in the banking industry over 27 years and was married to D.C. Arterburn for almost 60 years. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for most of her life. Dorothy loved to play cards and domino games and was quite competitive. She was known for baking the best Texas chocolate sheet cake around.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son, James Crossley III (Jennifer) of San Antonio, daughter Kim Arterburn (Kimi Spear) of Dallas, granddaughter Amy Phillips (Kale) of Amarillo, five great grandchildren, Judson (Addison), Jedd, Jensen, Jenks and Adleigh.
