Dorothy Jordan Bacon

1930 - 2025

Dorothy Jordan Bacon, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2025, at the age of 95. Dorothy was born on September 17, 1930, in Lyons, Georgia, and lived a life full of love, faith, creativity, and joy. She was a native to the Savannah area and lived here for the majority of her life, but the most loved home was in Freeport, on Grand Bahama Island, where she lived with her family for over ten years.

Dorothy's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She most recently attended Radiant Life Assembly of God. Her unwavering trust in God guided her throughout her life and in her relationships with family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her spiritual devotion, Dorothy was a hardworking and accomplished businesswoman. She owned and operated several clothing stores in the Savannah area. She also managed the office at Jordan Repair Service, the family business.

A gifted artist, Dorothy found beauty in the simplest of things. She loved turning everyday objects into works of art and had an extensive doll collection that brought her great joy. Dorothy was also an avid lover of games, whether playing cards, dominoes, or her favorite tablet games.

Dorothy is predeceased by her two husbands: D.C. Jordan and Lester Bacon, Sr.; her daughter, Rhonda Stanford; parents, Ira and Bertie Barbee; and her siblings, Jewell, Johnny and Troy Barbee.

She is survived by her children: Marsha Lepley (Buzz) of Pooler, Nancy True (Larry) of Arizona, and DeWayne Jordan, Sr. (Dede) of Rincon; her brother, Alvin Strickland (Susan) of Iowa; two sisters, Jeannette King and Wynell Seargeant; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held to honor Dorothy's memory at 5pm on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons, West Chatham Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at a later date in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick, GA.
