Dorothy Barbarito Obituary

DOROTHY SCHILL BARBARITO "DOTTIE"
Dorothy Schill Barbarito "Dottie" of Atlantic Beach Florida passed away August 25, 2023 at the age of 87 years old. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida to Emma Mickler Schill, and "Gus" Gustav William Schill. The youngest of ten children, she loved being the baby and adored her siblings. Raised in the San Marco area, she attended Assumption Catholic School, as well as being part of the second graduating class of Bishop Kenny High School. After graduation, she worked for Southern Bell, before landing her dream job as a flight attendant for National Airlines. Soon after she met the love of her life, Ed Barbarito. They married three months later and remained married for 63 years.
Over the years she enjoyed many activities, but playing tennis at Selva Marina Country Club gave her so much enjoyment and so many friends that she treasured. This helped to keep her active into her seventies. Family was the most important part of her life and she wanted to be at every event that came with 5 children, 26 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Dottie and Ed enjoyed the local restaurants at the beach in later years, and she never lost her zest for travel. Over the years they got to travel to many places including China and Hong Kong. One of the highlights of her life was a European cruise with her best friend and niece Margie Mears. Faith and Family sustained her to the end.
Dottie is survived by five children, Laura B. Miller (Richard), Edward R. Barbarito Jr. (Lisa), Donna B. Williams (Chris), John W. Barbarito (June), Lizbeth B. Hamrick (Scott), twenty-six grandchildren, Hampton Miller, Savannah Fisher, Delanie Miller, Spencer Miller, Lydia Chase, Angelica Stewart, Dominic Miller, Mary Grace Schaefer, Joseph Miller, Kaleigh Bounds, Warren Williams, Monica Satchell, Colette Williams, John Paul Williams, Grant Williams, Brian Williams, Celine Williams, Karla Nitschke, Eddie Barbarito III, Mikey Barbarito, Timmy Barbarito, Alicia Barbarito, Alana Barbarito, Emma Hamrick, Mack Hamrick, Jackson Hamrick, fourteen great grandchildren, Emma Miller, Mila Miller, Hayden Fisher, Minkee Fisher, Ari Fisher, Gianna Stewart, Damien Stewart, Leonardo Schaefer, Giovanni Schaefer, Maximus Bounds, Luca Bounds, Penelope "Dot" Williams, Scarlett Satchell, Holland Satchell, three more babies are due soon!
Visitation and Rosary will be Friday evening, September 1st, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Dottie was always full of life. She was such an active and enthusiastic tennis player. I loved how often I was able to see here as she always stopped to see the grandkids. What a wonderful matriarch for the Barbarito Family. Prayers for Dottie and family.
