DOROTHY BARBIERI Obituary

BARBIERI, Dorothy (Cornoni) Age 97, of Wellesley, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, of natural causes, with her family by her side. She was a lifelong resident of Wellesley. She was the daughter of Louis and Clorinda Cornoni, originally from Italy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Anthony Barbieri, to whom she was married for 63 years. She was engaged to him when she was a senior at Wellesley High School. She was the loving mother and mother-in-law of Albert Barbieri, Jr. and Catina of Harvard, Barbara McGrath and the late William McGrath of Wellesley and John Barbieri and Karoline of Natick. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Gina O'Neil, Albert and George Barbieri, Emily Raffile, Louis McGrath and Lindsay, Kiley and Jordan Barbieri; and eight great-grandchildren. Dorothy worked at F. Diehl & Sons for many years as a manager of the gift shop. Dorothy and family spent many happy summers with her children and grandchildren at White Horse Beach in Plymouth. She loved children, gardening, flowers, bird-watching, cooking and drawing. In later years, Dorothy was very social and enjoyed helping to raise grandchildren, playing cards with friends and family. She was a high school cheerleader and continued to be an avid Boston sports fan. Visiting Hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16), WELLESLEY, on Friday, April 5, from 4 to 7pm. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, April 6, at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Wellesley Hills, at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the charity of your choice. Online guestbook, at gfdoherty.com George F. Have so many memories of Dot, Albert, Aunty Alice and Sonny. Ralph and I I had our first apartment at Twitchell St.
