Dorothy M. Benedict, 98, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Dorothy Marie Harrison was born on February 3, 1927, to Floyd and Clara (Frykman) Harrison. She was born in Barrett, MN, and grew up in Fargo, ND. On March 3, 1946, Dorothy married Philip Benedict. Together they made their home in Moorhead, and had a farm south of Dilworth, MN. Philip passed away in September 1989. She was a long time member of First Congregational Church in Moorhead. Dorothy volunteered for many years with Sanford Medical Center as a flower delivery lady, worked in the Eventide Nursing Home coffee shop, and was an active member of the Swedish Society. Dorothy loved being with her family, gardening and traveling. She traveled the world, China, England, Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavian countries, 2 mediterranean cruises, Alaskan cruise and at least 15 trips to Hawaii. She loved Hawaii so much that for her 81st birthday she took 28 family members there to help her celebrate. She will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Dorothy is survived by her children, GaNé (Michael) Skatvold, Moorhead, MN, Dianna (Arvon) Nelson, Moorhead, MN, Kristina (Rick) Benedict, Bloomfield, CO, Leslie (Nestor) Corella, Lynden, WA, Brett (Teri) Benedict, Moorhead, MN, 14 grandchildren, Andy, Charlie, Brenna, Katie, Shiras, Elijah, Carly, Dino, Lilyana, Daniel, Kyle, Tiffany, Lyndon and Falcisha; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Perry, Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip, and brothers, Roger, Maurice and Milo Harrison.
The celebration of Life service will be held Friday, February 21 at 2:00 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
