Dorothy Loretta Boese was born on September 7, 1922 to Henry Philip and Margie Evelyn (Trigg) Bruns in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was raised and attended country school and then Pipestone Elementary School through the 8th grade. She loved playing with the farm animals as a child. She always aspired to be a gymnast. As a teenager, she would occasionally sneak out at night to dances with her sister, Milly. She was united in marriage to Anton Wm Boese in Lake Wilson, Minnesota on March 10, 1948. She worked at the Mayfair Hotel and at the Pipestone Hospital. She continued her career working for over 30 years at Forman's Paint Store in Pipestone. Dorothy's health took a turn recently and she entered the care of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone, and then shortly thereafter the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, Minnesota, to be near her son. She passed away there on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the age of 101.
Dorothy was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone where she was a part of the ladies group. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to watch Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins and the Vikings. She had a penchant and a knack for playing slot machines and loved going to Las Vegas. She would regularly get together with family and friends to play cards, especially poker. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, fishing, and being around her children and grandchildren. She would often call any family or friend "lover" and would happily proclaim that any cat in the world was "a nice little kitty cat."
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her two children, Dennis (Mona) Boese of Hills, Minnesota, and Peggy Boese of Pipestone; eight grandchildren, Adrienne Hamilton, Aaron Boese, Elliot Boese, Grace Boese, Renee Carlsrud, Riley Boese, Morgan Neubauer, and Spencer Lemm; 15 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lilienne, Anton, Magdalene, Garett, Liam, Finn, Madyson, Brecken, Maverick, Nash, Grayson, Hope, Brooks, and Jackson. She is also survived by her favorite "nice little kitty cat," Mali. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anton; parents, Henry and Margie; one son, Kevin Boese; her sisters, Phyllis Bruns and Mildred Bruns; and her brother, Phillip Bruns.
