In Loving Memory of Dorothy "Dot" M. Cain
Dorothy "Dot" M. Cain, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Cain and a loving mother to Dianna (Mike) Aluia and the late Gregory. Dot was also a cherished mother-in-law to Shelley (Rick) Bogusky. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as the proud Nana of Christy (Chris) Wilson, Katie (Josh) Donnelly, Daniel (Anna Grace Tindal) Furlong, Keegan (Courtney) Furlong, and Nolan Furlong. Dot was a devoted Nana to her great-grandchildren Charlotte, Ava Kate, and Noah Wilson, as well as Nora and Tessa Donnelly.
Born on May 1, 1934, in
Gladewater, Texas to the late Roman D. and Annie M (Clark) Word. Dot lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family. She played an integral role as a bookkeeper at Metra Tool, her husband Charles's business, diligently working until the impressive age of 87. Dot's commitment to her family and work showcased her strong work ethic and love for those around her.
Dot was a devout Christian and member of Ward Presbyterian Church. She could often be found on her kneeling bench with the Lord, praying for dear family and friends. Dot's true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She showed the love of Jesus by being a "Nana" to many more people than just her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She embraced every moment, creating cherished memories filled with laughter, love, and the warmth that only a Nana could provide.
Dot had a gift for storytelling and would be happy to share with anyone, if only to make them smile. She loved to bring joy to others with humor and managed to do so until her last days on earth. Dot and Charlie worked hard their whole lives to leave a beautiful legacy that has touched the hearts of many, and will no doubt continue to do so.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be directed to Angela Hospice, a reflection of Dot's compassionate and caring nature.
Visitation to celebrate Dot's life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 1-7 pm at the O'Brien Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 41555 Grand River Ave,
Novi, MI 48375. Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 14, 2024, 1 pm at the funeral home.
