Dorothy Carter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robinson Funeral Home, Inc. - Littleton on Mar. 6, 2026.
Ms. Dorothy Elizabeth Price Carter was born to the late Joseph Herman Price, Sr. and Addie Bryant Price on November 23, 1947, in Halifax County, North Carolina. She was the second oldest of four siblings: Catherine P. Dickerson of Conway, North Carolina, Joseph Herman Price, Jr. of Littleton, North Carolina, and Eva P. Yelity of Norfolk, Virginia.

Dorothy peacefully transitioned from this earthly life at her residence in Littleton, North Carolina, and entered her heavenly home on Friday, March 6, 2026.

During her early years, Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. She later found her lasting church home at the South Street Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina, and served faithfully for numerous years. Her active church involvement included singing in the church choir, serving on the Usher Board, reading scriptures, and leading prayer until her health declined.

Dorothy received her formal education through the Halifax County Public School System. She graduated with honors in 1966 from the former McIver High School in Littleton, North Carolina, where she was a cheerleader and a majorette.

Coming from a family who valued education, Dorothy began her professional journey by becoming employed in the library at McIver High School following her graduation. She later continued her work in library services at the Pratt Library in Baltimore, Maryland.

Eventually, Dorothy discovered the career path that brought her the greatest joy. She was hired by W.R. Grace and Company (Airmold) in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, where she quickly became the Lead on her shift, and was highly respected for her knowledge, skill, and dedication. During her tenure, Dorothy trained numerous Supervisors, Leads, and Trimmers, and left a lasting impact on the lives of everyone who worked alongside her.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her former husband, Sandy Carter, with whom she maintained a friendly relationship until his passing; her older brother, Dorth Edwards; her older sister, Catherine P. Dickerson, and her younger brother, Joseph Herman "Joe" Price, Jr., and her brother-in-law, Garry Yelity.

Dorothy was deeply loved by her family. The treasured memories of her life and endearing love will be forever revered by her only child, Troy Carter, of whom she was immensely proud; her niece and nephew, Ava P. Gunby (Keith) and Anthony Price (Renee, ) whom she lovingly reared with the same devotion and care as if they were her own, and anyone who witnessed their close bond would never have known otherwise; her loving sister, Eva P. Yelity; her brother-in-law, Wallace Dickerson; her two sisters-in-law, Lucille Edwards and Janice Price; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will all miss her earthly presence and the legacy of her giving heart.

A viewing and visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158, Littleton, North Carolina. Rev. Robert L. Faulcon, Sr. will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the South Street Missionary Baptist Church Memorial Gardens, Bacon Road, Littleton, NC.
