Dorothy Lee Cherry passed away on January 18, 2026 at the age of 93. Dorothy Lee Leasman was born September 14, 1932 in New Braunfels, TX and later moved to Houston where she met her future husband of 72 years, Jack. She spent her early adulthood in the banking industry, until she left it to pursue her most favorite full-time role as one of housewife and mother to her two children.

Dorothy lived a life of faith and was a devoted Christian. She is survived by her son Darryl B. Cherry and wife Angela, daughter Alicia M. Vasquez and husband Will; grandchildren Elyssa Cherry-Shive and husband Cecil, Dylan Cherry, Alison Talley and husband Landon, Leslie Smith and husband Frank Garcia, two great grandchildren Dean Garcia and Shane Garcia. She also leaves behind her sisters Joyce Hines, Brenda Bedford, Scarlet Benefield and brother Roger Leasman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Jack O. Cherry, her parents, Edgar Elder Leasman and Jesse Irene Kerr; brothers Bobby Leasman, James Leasman and Edgar Leasman. Family and friends are invited to join us at Pearland Church of Christ, 2217 North Grand Blvd., Pearland, Texas, 77581 on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM (visitation) and 11:00 AM (service). Interment will be at 2:00 PM, South Park Cemetery, 1310 North Main, Pearland, Texas 77581.
