Dorothy Coleman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Queen of Heaven Cemetery and Funeral Center on Dec. 16, 2025.
Dorothy Elaine Coleman, beloved mother, grandmother, gigi, sister and friend , passed away on November 28, 2025, at the age of 81 in Antioch, California. Dorothy was born on March 8, 1944, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Adrian and Della Coleman. In 1955, her family moved to West Pittsburg, California, where Dorothy would go on to build a life surrounded by loved ones and lifelong friends. She graduated from Pacifica High School in 1962 and dedicated nearly 30 years of service to the Mt. Diablo Unified School District. She started her career with them in the Head Start Program and later on with Developmentally Disabled Adults. She was deeply committed to advocating for staff and students alike, culminating in her service as president of the CSEA union. Dorothy was proud of her work, her roots and her family. She cherished time with her loved ones and could often be found crocheting, enjoying a good book or crossword puzzle. She was a diehard 49er fan and would cheer them on passionately. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Erlinda; granddaughters Destiny, Jordan and Adrianne; grandson Gabriel; great-grandson Fernando; brother Morris; sister-in-law Mickey; nephew James; and niece Rachel. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her. A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life will be held on Thursday, December 18th at Queen of Heaven Cemetery and Funeral Home, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd., Lafayette, California. A viewing will take place from 9:30am – 11:00am, followed by services at 11:00am. Her legacy of kindness, dedication and love lives on in the hearts of her family and many lives that she touched.
