Dorothy L. Cowden, 90, of Ordway, formerly of Rocky Ford, passed away on December 20, 2025, at the Crowley County Nursing Center. Dororthy was born on May 20, 1935, in Tribune, Kansas to Alice Aleta (Allen) and Ross Ellsworth Pile. As a small child, her family moved to Colorado where she lived the majority of her life. She attended school in Ordway, graduating high school in 1953. After graduation, she attended Bob Jones University. Dorothy married Floyd Eldon Carlile in 1954 and together they raised two sons, David and Neal Carlile.

Dorothy was very dedicated to her church and its congregation. She also dedicated more than 30 years of service to the First National Bank of Ordway and its many customers. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling leagues as well as playing softball. After the death of her first husband, she married Richard Albert Cowden in 1983 until his passing in 1994. After retirement, Dorothy traveled with wonderful friends and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known for her kindness, warmth and the love she shared with her family, friends and all who knew her.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, David (Jeanie) Carlile and Neal (Patti) Carlile both of Onley Springs, Colorado; Grandchildren, Rachelle (Jesse) Singleton of La Junta, Colorado, Jenna (Wyatt) Sharon of Fowler, Colorado, Jared (Chelsie) Carlile of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Shea (Louie) Peteque of La Junta, Colorado. Great Grandchildren, Megan, Cashly, Luke and Tacy Jacquart; Layton, Rayah and Merit Sharon; Hayden and Rylie Carlile and Liam Archuleta; Sister, Vera Elaine Stephens of Fowler, Colorado; sister-in-law, Marnita Pile of Garden City, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Ross Pile, her husbands, Floyd Carlile and Richard Cowden; her brother, Ross Earl Pile; nephew, Michael Pile and brother-in-law, Gerald Stephens.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the River of Life Fellowship in Ordway, Colorado; with Pastor Gary Ashida of River of Life Fellowship officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. at River of Life Fellowship in Ordway, Colorado. A luncheon for all attending will follow after the service at the River of Life Fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sangre De Cristo Hospice.
