Dorothy Jean (Inman) Fisher, 83, passed away on July 25, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born to Harlan Inman and Lillian Grace Pickford on May 6, 1938 in Blue Mound, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her husband George Bernard Fisher, and is survived by her six children, George Jr. (Skip) of Chesapeake, VA, Catherine Seely of Berwick, PA, Susan Fisher of Florence, AZ, Rose Norberg of Poulsbo, WA, Lisa Shepherd of Queen Creek, AZ, Daniel Fisher of Pomfret, MD, seven beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Dorothy spent her early years with her twin sister Doris, two brothers and four other sisters, on a small farm in Kansas. At the age of nine the family moved to California, finally settling in Fairfield. She graduated from Armillo Union High School in 1956 and soon moved to San Francisco. While working for the telephone company she met and married a young sailor, beginning a life of travel and adventure.
With her husband and children, she traveled the country, living in California, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington state. Once the children were grown, she and George enjoyed road trips all over the country and took cruises through the Panama Canal and the North Sea. Following George's passing in 2013, she moved to Queen Creek, AZ, where she enjoyed reading, gardening and water aerobics.
Dorothy will be greatly missed and will live on in memories as our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2021 at the San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel in Queen Creek, Arizona.
