Dorothy Grace Greene Gilder, affectionately called Dot, and best known as "Gibba" by her family and friends, was called home to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 9th, 2025 at the age of 92 in Owensboro, KY.
Dorothy was born on January 7, 1933 to Bailey Payton Greene and Sallie Grace Turbeville Greene. She had 2 brothers, Lewis Greene and Elmo Greene.
Dorothy's dad owned an old country store in Lexington,MS. She graduated Cruger Tchula in 1950 and then went to business school in Greenwood, MS. She was the secretary for Rosenfield's and then opened up a fabric store with the Roden's called Gilro's. She also worked at Schloms Jewelry in Greenville, MS. Dot worked for the migrant program with Western Line School district and went on to be elected in 1986 on the school board. She would celebrate 30 years in 2016. She was honored with a building dedication for the Dorothy G. Gilder Pre-K building for Riverside schools in 2017.
Gibba was a member of Swiftwater Baptist Church and was involved in many of the groups there from youth to teaching Sunday school. She loved southern gospel music.
Gibba was one of a kind. She was always the life of the party and made any event so special. She never meet a stranger and made friends with ease. She was uniquely Gibba! She loved a good game of checkers and would never give up her winning strategies. She loved hard and played harder.
