Dorothy Ann Gregory

A Memorial Service for Dorothy Ann Gregory will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Lillard officiating. Cremation and service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Dorothy Ann Gorre Jones Gregory was born in Enid, Oklahoma, May 24, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Johnston. She passed away May 5, 2025, in Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years.

She graduated from Enid High School in 1949, where she was a cheerleader. She has been cheering people on for years; it was part of her nature. She attended Oklahoma College for Women but left school to attend to her mother, who was ill. She married Bob "Chub" Gorre and had three sons, Darrell, Tim, and Brian. She worked at Gray's Department Store in Enid remarking that she often didn't get a paycheck because the "boys" used it to buy clothes from the store. She was active in the Democratic party, especially the women's group. She was appointed as Garfield County Election Board Secretary and served faithfully encouraging people to vote. She was active at the Enid YMCA teaching various classes, especially water aerobics. She helped start the Enid AM Ambucs. She was very active at Davis Park Christian church teaching classes and then moved to Central Christian Church when Davis Park became a Hispanic mission. She was very active in Gideons International and visited women prisoners as part of her mission. She exhibited the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) in her daily life. She was an example to family and friends of sacrificial love and devotion.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Johnston, her brothers, Bill and Bob Johnston and their spouses, her mother-in-law, Juanita Martin, her brother-in-laws, Ray and Eddie Gorre. She is also preceded in death by two of her sons, Darrell Gorre, and Brian Gorre, her husbands, Bob "Chub" Gorre, H. D. "Breezy" Jones, and Lindol Gregory, and her stepson, David Jones.

She is survived by her son Tim Gorre, daughter-in-law, Shirley Gorre, grandsons Brett, Thomas and Spencer Gorre. She is also survived by her stepdaughters and their husbands; Suzanne Lillard, Debra Vinardi, Cynthia Thomas, Pamela Wight and her two stepsons Lewis and Bruce Gregory plus multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and multitudes of friends.

Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to the Denny Price YMCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
