Obituary of Dorothy Mary Gugliemelli
Lifelong Amsterdam resident Dorothy Mary Gugliemelli, 60, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at St Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY with her beloved family by her side.
She was born on July 2, 1963, in Amsterdam, NY to the late Aniello and Dorothy (McGuigan) Gugliemelli. She attended Amsterdam High School before beginning her career as a Supervisor in Nutrition at St Mary's Hospital, where she was employed for close to 30 years.
Dorothy loved to gamble at the casino, as well as play card games with her family. More than anything, she was the matriarch of the family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family.
She was predeceased by her parents Aniello and Dorothy Gugliemelli; and her brother David Gugliemelli.
Dorothy is survived by her lifelong partner of 38 years Richard Burton; children Bruce (Laura Miller) O'Shaughnessy, Jessica (Ryan) Savoie, Kayla, Shawn, and Eric Burton, and Aniya Homs; grandchildren Ryan Jr., Bradley and Brianna Savoie, Kaiden O'Shaughnessy, and Ariella Burton; siblings Daniel (Jeanette) Gugliemelli, Kelly (Robert) Dulysz, Donald Gugliemelli, and Kathy (Marlene) Gugliemelli; as well as her beloved dogs Princess and Peanut.
A service of remembrance will be held at 12pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger and Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Family and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 10am to 12pm.
