Dorothy Hall Evans was a childhood friend of my mother, Betty Applin. Dorothy's dad was the Sunday School Superintendent at West End COGIC in years past, and my mother talked favorably of his role and skill in this position. Dorothy and Mama were great friends from childhood to their adult lives. We have black & white pics as well as colored photos that depicted their friendship. Dorothy and family lived across the street from us on Dorie St and she was a regular visitor in our home, especially as my Mom was a kitchen beautician and Dorothy was one of her clients. They forever talked about their past and Dorothy would say, "Bettlou do you remember??"
Several times me or my sisters would babysit Karen, Kevin, or Kathy for Dorothy, or they could come to our residence if one or the other needed supervision. Our families interacted and connected for years. We watched and cheered for Dorothy's twin sisters (Tittie and Baby) who were part of Wheatley's cheerleaders and pep squad. Pauline, another sister lived in another block of Dorie and watched her son, Mark as he moved in theatre production. Mom and I attended Kathryn's wedding and pictures of her triplets graced the refrigerator every year. Dorothy was a nurse and I remember her in her white uniform and nursing shoes. When Dorothy moved off Rittiman, the friends stayed in touch, even when in Houston with Kathryn we visited. After the death of my Mom, my Aunt Rookie in CA stayed in touch with Dorothy. To this day, the family ties are still binding and the offsprings of Betty and Dorothy are yet connected. I will cherish the memories of this season of our lives. Praying for the strength and comfort of the Hall and Evans family.
