Tina passed away on her birthday, December 18th, 2025, after a brief illness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Curtis and Eva Newton, sister, Betty Jane Newton Turner, and husband, John William (Bill) Hilbert. She is survived by daughter, Gayle Taylor (Jeff) and son, Hunter Hilbert (Laura); grandchildren Meredith Hodges (John), Kyle Taylor (Bethany), Sean Hilbert, Brett Hilbert (Emily), Jason Hilbert, and Eric Hilbert (Amber); and great-grandchildren, Scarlett Taylor, Silas Taylor, and David Hodges.
Tina was raised in Fluvanna and enjoyed playing basketball and cheerleading for Fluvanna High School. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with an accounting degree and retired from Circuit City. After moving to Powhatan in 2002, she enjoyed retirement by going horseback riding, bowling, and reading (especially Mary Higgins Clark novels). She always looked forward to her yearly summer beach vacations at the Outer Banks with her group of friends. Tina will be remembered by her sense of humor, love for her dogs and most recent pet, cat, Lainey, and pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m. at Sheridan Funeral Home, 4626 Cedar Lane Road, Kents Store, Virginia. A service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Byrd Chapel Church, 5371 Venable Road, Kents Store, Virginia. Her daughter Rev. Gayle Taylor will be officiating the service
