Dorothy Ione Holsted, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Lakin, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1930, in Chapman, Kansas, to William Edward and Effie (Garrison) Kolling. Dorothy was a devoted and loving mother, raising three children with remarkable dedication and care. After her children were grown, she pursued her passion for education by teaching computer classes at Garden City Community College, impacting many lives along the way.

Dorothy had a vibrant personality that shone through in her hobbies and interests. She was an avid cook and gardener, cultivating both her garden and her family's love with her culinary skills. A lover of country music, Dorothy could often be found enjoying the melodies, dancing, and listening in joyful harmony.

Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Larry and wife Connie Holsted of Garden City, Kansas; and Greg Holsted of Meade, Kansas and companion Sandra of Garden City, Kansas. She cherished her sister, Shirley Owens of Firestone, Colorado and her daughters, Sandra and Jan. Dorothy took immense pride in her grandchildren, who include Amber Holsted and companion Mark and children Charlighe, Penelope Richardson, and Kory Painter, Nicole and husband Vic Ciancettia and children Adaline, Victor William, and Beau, T.C. Holsted and wife Aaron, Jason and Dawn Richardson and children Greyson and Branson, Lindsey and husband Alex Buriak and children Viviana, Frankie, and Luca, and Nathan Richardson; Shane Holsted, Arlo Clepper and daughter Caitlynn. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband A.C. Holsted, her daughter Nancy Richardson, her brothers Henry Kolling and Robert Kolling, her sister Emma Welborn, and her granddaughter Heather Becker.

Dorothy's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire her family and friends.

A memorial has been established for and payable to American Cancer Society, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 North Main Street, Garden City, Kansas 67846.

Book signings will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, and Friday, September 19, 2025, from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M., with family present from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M., Friday evening at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City.

A funeral service honoring Dorothy’s life will take place at First United Methodist Church, located at 1106 North Main Street, Garden City, Kansas, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., officiated by Reverend Obed Aying. She will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery, embracing her final resting place.
