Dorothy Edith "Dottie" Kerr, a devoted homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 17th, 2025, in
Greensboro, North Carolina. Born on March 2nd, 1930, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Dottie lived a full and meaningful life, reaching the age of 95.
Dottie dedicated her life to her family and home, creating a warm and loving environment for all who knew her. She found great joy in reading, solving crossword puzzles and golf. She was a talented cook known especially for her Christmas cookies, affectionately called "Sand Tarts." Above all, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her beloved family.
A faithful member of First Lutheran Church of Greensboro, Dottie was actively involved in the church community, participating in FACEOUT at First Lutheran, where she lovingly made birthday cakes for many years.
Dottie was preceded in death by her dear husband, Wayne Kerr, who passed away on July 16, 2024. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: three daughters, Janice Eberenz and husband David; Barbara Sasser and husband Mike, both of Greensboro; and Karen Puryear of Wilmington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David Eberenz Jr. and wife Karen; Scott Sasser; Rob Sasser and wife Windy; Steven Eberenz and wife Stephanie; Katie Ewing and husband Alan; Sara Loyd and husband John; Will Puryear; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel and Grace Eberenz; Grace, Olivia and Luci Sasser; Owen and Keegan Ewing; Charlotte Eberenz; and Josie Loyd. She is also survived by her brother, John Miller, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at four o'clock on Friday, December 5th, 2025 in First Lutheran Church, 3600 W, Friendly Avenue,
Greensboro, North Carolina 27410. In lieu of customary remembrances, please consider a memorial contribution to First Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choosing.
Dottie will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her gentle spirit and dedication to those she loved will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
