Dorothy Kobak Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Community Mortuary, Inc. - Union on Nov. 27, 2025.
Dorothy Czuchman Kobak, 77, of Old Westbury, NY, passed away on November 25th, surrounded by her loved ones.
Dorothy, a daughter of Holocaust survivors, was born in Germany in a displaced persons camp before immigrating to America. She was a woman of warmth, grace, and quiet strength whose presence brought comfort and love to everyone she knew. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stuart Kobak, with whom she shared a devoted and enduring partnership for 33 years.
A deeply loving mother and grandmother, Dorothy is survived by her son, Alexander Kobak, and his wife Eleanor Macdonald, and their children Penny, Stuart, and Oliver; as well as her daughter, Elizabeth Kobak Kubert, her husband Joseph Kubert, and their daughter Eloise. Dorothy's family was the joy of her life, and her pride in them was unwavering.
As young newlyweds she and Stu lived in Asia, and she became one of the first American female doctors of acupuncture. Settling back home in Long Island to raise her children she found her calling, co-founding a children-focused organization called the Incorporated Villages Association and ran a children's tennis tournament. Dorothy loved tennis as a player, a volunteer, and as a proud tennis parent. Dorothy's warmth, generosity of spirit, and refined taste made her unforgettable to all who knew her.
A service will be held on Sunday, November 30th, at 12:00 PM at IJ Morris Funeral Home, 21 E Deer Park Rd, Dix Hills, NY. A shiva will follow later that afternoon at her home in Old Westbury.

Dorothy's memory will remain forever in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to share in her joy.
