Dorothy B. Leland, 99, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Ralph Leland, passed away on November 2, 2025. Born on February 8, 1926 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Gertrude (Hawkes) Bellows.
Dorothy will be remembered as a remarkable woman whose dedication, grace, and warmth touched everyone who knew her. Her career was a testament to her hard work and leadership - from her early days at SNET to her 25 years as General Manager of the Holiday Inn, and later her long and successful tenure of 36 years on the legal team at Subway headquarters. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dorothy found joy in life's simple pleasures: knitting and sewing beautiful creations, relaxing on the shores of Harwich Port Cape Cod, and savoring a well-made martini. A proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, she carried forward the values of fellowship, charity, and service that those traditions uphold. Dorothy's kindness, intelligence, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.
Dorothy is survived by her three daughters Lesley L. Leland-Turechek, Dayle P. Leland (Rick Mallinson), and Whitney C. Smith (John J.); her grandchildren, Quentin D. Smith, Jennifer L. Garcia (Rigoberto "Tony"), Melissa A. Walkley (Timothy), and Justin R. Smith (Jess) and grandaughter-in-law Lisa Smith, her great grandchildren, Brittney E Pinon (Edward), Morgan L. Fletcher (Joseph), Mackenzie McLean, Jacob Walkley, Emelio Garcia, Skylar Smith, Lucia Garcia, Joshua and Jillian Smith and great-great grandchild Cecilia Pinon. Dorothy was also predeceased by her brother, Ralph C. Bellows.
