Dorothy Faye Whitworth Mayben, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her niece’s home in Mantachie. She was born on April 5, 2025, in Monroe County to Raymond and Hattie Whitworth. She attended Aberdeen schools and worked as a seamstress in the area garment industry. After her retirement, she was a cook and waitress at Mildred’s Restaurant. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing and being outdoors hunting and fishing. She loved being around people, talking and visiting. Her family was most important to her especially her sisters and lived her life to help others.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with Bro. Robert Earl Fowlkes. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Lee Mayben; grandchildren, Paige Mayben, Madison Turner, Alana Swords, and Braxton Hoffpauer; great grandchildren Finn Hastings and Brynleigh Prestage; special great-great niece and nephew, Will Barnes and Emma Barnes; special great niece, Jonna Clark Williams; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Jim Whitworth, Hank Whitworth, Emma Jane Jackson, Bessie Barnes, Lottie Jackson, Ethel Lavander, and Delma Yates.
Pallbearers will be Waylon Barnes, Kenny Barnes, Steve Barnes, Matthew Williams, Noah Williams, and Jay Barnes. Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Lavander.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
