Mrs. Dorothy Windham O’Neal, 84, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday evening, December 3rd, 2024, while at Morrell Nursing Center, with her family by her side.
Mrs. O’Neal was born in Hartsville, a daughter of the late James Boyd & Virginia Andrews Windham. Dorothy was known for kind heart and the meals she prepared. She loved cooking and always said, “I just want you to get enough.” Mrs. O’Neal was a member of The Church of God of Reformation, where she also loved helping cook the church’s chicken bogs.
Surviving are her children, Mary Ann (Chuck) Tyner and Jackie (Tom) Amerson, both of Hartsville; grandchildren: Kelly (Phillip) Peake, Dustin Tyner, Heather (Buck) Privette, Spencer (Kaityln) Amerson, and Misti (Coree) Lane; great-grandchildren: Kaylynn Privette, Margaret Privette, Daniel Privette, Emma Peake, Phillip Amerson, Stanlee Lane, Lexi Lane, and Weslee Lane; a sister, Mary Shirey; and father of her children and friend, Matthew O'Neal.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Edward Maurice Windham, William Windham, Elvis Windham, Faye Cash, Jeanette Rivers, Sammy Windham, Lavel Parnell, Ray Windham, Arthur Windham, and Bubba Windham; sons, Michael O’Neal and Matthew O’Neal, Jr.
Her service will be conducted at 2:00 on Friday afternoon, December 6th, 2024, from First Church of God of Reformation. Reverend Marvin Griggs and Mr. Howard Gainey will officiate with a committal following in the Berea Cemetery (Oates Community). The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Also, the family will be meeting at Mrs. O’Neal’s home – 910 E. Carolina Ave., Hartsville.

The family would like to extended their sincere thanks to Morrell Nursing Center and Agape Hospice for the love and care they showed to Dorothy and her family.
