Dorothy Alice (Sayles) Oswald was the only child of Basil and Marcella Sayles. She was born in Portland, Oregon, on August 21st, 1927, and lived her entire life in Oregon. She graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School.
Dorothy met Robert (Bob) Oswald through a friend during the war, where he was serving in the Navy. They started writing to each other and were later married in 1946 after Bob was discharged from serving in the military.
Rob and Dorothy had three children together, Nancy, Sheila and Loren. The family lived in Madras, Oregon, for seven hears while the kids were young, then moved back to Portland. They later bult a house on the beach in Manzanita, Oregon. Dorothy loved walking on the beach and going out to the Nehalem River in their boat. Water was her peaceful place.
Both loved to travel; road trips around the U.S. and trips to Europe. Bob passed in 2003, and Dorothy continued cruising adventures with friends to Europe and Russia. She stayed in her beach house for 5 years after Bob passed, then moved to Milwaukie, Oregon to be closer to family.
Dorothy lived a long and happy life. She passed in her sleep the morning of February 17, 2026. She was 98 years old. She leaves her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
