Dorothy Radley

Dorothy L. Radley, age 84, of East Peoria, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Dorothy was born on September 15, 1938 in Chillicothe, IL to John Louis and Opal Beatrice (Oswald) Magee.  She married William Radley on June 30, 1956 in Chillicothe.  He preceded her in death on March 8, 2012.  Also preceding her in death are her parents; two brothers, Wilvin “Gene” and Charles “Chuck” Magee; and her sister, Jane Magee-Gordon.

Surviving are her daughters, Cindy (Greg) Radley-Neal of East Peoria, IL and Cathy (Steve) Radley-Barnett of Saint Peters, MO; two grandchildren, Kayla (Tyler) Barnett-Walker and Jared Barnett; and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was dedicated to her family.  A loving, supporting wife and mother, an affectionate and nurturing grandmother, she was cherished by her husband, children and grandchildren.  She was a caring, compassionate daughter, sister, aunt and friend. 

Dorothy retired from the former Convenient Food Mart in Chillicothe.  She was a life-long member of the Chillicothe Sportsmen’s Club and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and “second mom” to many of the girls in scouting in Chillicothe.  She was a very talented artist and she enjoyed gardening, old movies, trivia and word puzzles, boating on the river and her annual fishing trips with Bill and family to Minnesota.  Dorothy was a passionate and competitive card player, with every family event including card games.  She loved dogs, adopting many orphans over the years, and was a devoted “dog mom”.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 12noon with visitation beginning at 10am at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.  Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Pets For Saving / Pets For Seniors, Peoria, IL or Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
