Dorothy M. Randle was a woman of faith, dedication, and quiet strength whose life reflected a deep commitment to her family, church, and community. She was born to the late Zearline Barnes and Joe Willie Pryor, who instilled in her the values of hard work, service, and devotion that she carried throughout her life.
Dorothy attended and graduated from Hempstead Colored High School in the 1940s. The school now stands as a historical landmark honoring and preserving African American culture and history, representing an important chapter in the community's legacy.
Dorothy began her professional journey as a hairdresser, a role that allowed her to connect with and serve members of her community. Later in life, she worked for General Electric, where she became a Union Organizer advocating for women's rights in the workplace. Through this work, Dorothy demonstrated her courage, leadership, and passion for fairness, helping to uplift and support women in their professional environments.
On March 7, 1975, Dorothy united in marriage with the love of her life, Iowine Randle. Their union was built on faith, love, and commitment. From this loving union, she was blessed with her cherished daughter, Regina Randle.
Dorothy was a faithful and devoted member of Fourth Missionary Baptist Church, where she served diligently for many years. Her faith guided her life and her service to others. She faithfully served as a Deaconess and was deeply involved in numerous ministries and committees within the church. She was a dedicated member of Mission #2, which later combined with Mission #4 and is now known as the Women's Mission Ministry.
For decades, Dorothy carefully managed and maintained the Sovereign Books, carrying out this responsibility with dedication and integrity. She also served in Sunday School, contributing to the spiritual growth and learning of others within the church community.
Dorothy played an important role on the 130th Church Anniversary Committee, helping to celebrate the church's rich history and legacy. In addition, she served as Vice President of the Christian Union, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to fellowship and ministry.
Known for her servant's heart, Dorothy volunteered tirelessly wherever she was needed within the church. Her kindness, humility, and dedication left a lasting impact on her church family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Dorothy M. Randle's legacy is one of faith, service, and love. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her unwavering commitment to her church, and the many lives she touched through her generosity and faithful service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zearline Barnes and Joe Willie Pryor, and her husband, Iowine Randle.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Regina Randle; her dear niece, Cleo Marchese (Angelo), and their children, Christine and Trajan; along with a host of other family members, friends, and her beloved church family who will continue to cherish her memory and the example she set.
Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
