Dorothy Renneisen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Inc. - Lansdale on Mar. 18, 2026.
Dorothy Ann Renneisen (née Castner, formerly Hitchcock), 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1945, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Harold Scott Castner and is survived by her mother, Annie Belle Schaeffer (née Long, formerly Castner). Known as Dot or Dottie to her friends, Dorothy's life was defined by resilience, devotion, and a deep love for her family and Christ.

She was first married to the late Thomas A. Hitchcock, with whom she shared many meaningful years. Later, she found companionship and joy again in her marriage to her husband, Creige Renneisen, who survives her.

Dorothy's faith was central to her life. She served the Lord wholeheartedly through her many years working at Penn Christian Academy and Delta Community Supports, where her kindness and patience touched countless lives. She also joyfully taught Sunday School to toddlers at Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene, a role she cherished deeply. Dorothy volunteered with the Cub Scouts (Cub Pack 752) for many years-continuing her service long after her own children had grown. She was always willing to help and serve, always volunteering whenever anyone asked. She was a joyful person who always found the positive side of every situation. Dorothy was strong, beautiful, loving, Godly, friendly, kind, caring, sweet, always smiling, cheerful, capable, hardworking, and known for going the extra mile to help. She loved to cook and bake, was an outstanding woman, and a best friend to many.

Dorothy is survived by her son Mark Hitchcock and his wife, Shannon (née Daub); her daughter Brenda Winter (née Hitchcock) and her husband, Michael; and her beloved grandchildren: Ian Hitchcock, Rebecca Hitchcock, and Eric Winter. She was preceded in death by her son, James Thomas Hitchcock.

She is also survived by her stepchildren:
• Bryan Creige Renneisen and his wife, Michelle, and their sons Bryan and Dominic Renneisen
• Kimberly Diane McClellan and her husband, Richard, and their children Braiden, Trenden, and Katerina McClellan

Dorothy is further survived by her siblings Anna Bertha Tygart, Debra J. Koch, and Michael Schaeffer. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley M. Davies, and her brother, David Scott Castner.

Dorothy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved taking long walks, ballroom dancing, playing with her grandchildren, and was an avid treasure hunter at yard sales and thrift stores-always on the lookout for a good bargain. These moments reflected her warm, spirited nature and her appreciation for the everyday blessings of life.

Funeral services are private and under the direction of Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale, PA. Memorial Service details will be provided at a later date.

Dorothy's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will remain a source of comfort, strength, and love.

Hello Brenda Winters ,
Two words, Jesus Wept.
During This time may God, Jesus, and the Holy spirit Comfort you and your entire Family. Because JESUS WEPT 2000 years ago gives US His Understanding OF THIS VERY MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE of Mourning. God will send Strength when you dont feel like getting out of Bed. The Holy Spirit will lead you to the comforting words of a stranger when you need it most. Or the Holy Spirit with lead to a Song to encourage you. God will orchestrate it all and deepen the Holy scripture into action. And may the Great memories of a Daughter and a Godly Mother relationship STRENGTH YOU in your Love for God. And Michael being one in Marriage may you be Comforted and feel Gods Love during this time of Mourning. And may God use you in this time of COMFORT.
It is NEAT and ENCOURAGING to read of A Living Testimony of your Mom with her Heavenly Father. And i will be in Prayer and may your family and the Hitchcock/Renneisen Family feel the Prayers of Love from everyone involved.
God bless you from Steve Forythe
