Dorothy M. "Dottie" Russek, 88, of Palmer Twp., passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. Her husband, John R. "Pappy" Russek, Sr. passed away on August 1, 2016. Born in Pottsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Oler) Pingor. Dottie was a graduate of Pottsville High School and had worked at the former Quartet Fashions in Nazareth. She was an avid Phillies Fan and enjoyed watching golf, especially cheering for Jordan Spieth.

Survivors: Daughters, Catherine M. Henrie and Jacquelyn A. Russek, COL USAR Retired; Sons, John R. Russek, Jr., CDR USNR Retired and his wife, Dawn, and Michael S. Russek and his wife, Jane; Sister, Joan Urenko; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; and beloved Feline Companions, Callie and Missy. She was preceded in death by a Sister, Kathleen Moll.

Remembering Aunt Dottie

When I think of Aunt Dottie, I can honestly say that every memory I have of her is a good one. She was one of those people who made you feel at home the moment you walked through the door. She was warm, kind, and always genuinely happy to see you.

Every summer, my mom (Uncle Jack´s sister), my siblings, and I would get on a plane to Pennsylvania for our visit with our grandma (Nanny) and Uncle Al. We´d come and stay at their house for a week or two, and those trips became some of the best parts of my childhood. I still remember the excitement of pulling up to their house.

The house always felt so welcoming, because it was filled with love and laughter. There was just something comforting about being there. We´d share meals, talk and joke about life, and spend slow summer days together, enjoying each other´s company. And those little moments stuck with me.
