Dorothy Seney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne on Nov. 21, 2025.
Dorothy Joan (Dotti) Seney, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband of 49 years and her children.

Born on May 25, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Florence (Madden) and Charles Meyers, Dorothy grew up in Ventnor before attending Holy Spirit High School and Stockton University. She began her teaching career at Our Lady Star of the Sea while living in Brigantine and raising her children.

Dorothy and her husband Frank later moved to Smithville, proudly becoming the first homeowners in the new community. She continued her passion for education at Atlantic County Special Services and ultimately retired from Absegami High School.

Dorothy's life was defined by her love of family, community, and teaching. She was an exceptional cook, golfer, and a dedicated member of her church. For more than thirty years, she hosted countless gatherings at her home, serving homemade pizza, linguini and clams, chicken parmesan, cavatelli, and many other beloved dishes. These gatherings became legendary among family and friends, who affectionately referred to her home as "Casa Dotti."

Dorothy also had a lifelong love of Disney, finding joy in the magic, imagination, and family traditions it inspired. Whether visiting the parks, collecting keepsakes, or sharing Disney movies with her children and grandchildren, she embraced the wonder and happiness that Disney brought into her life and passed that joy on to those around her.

After living in several locations throughout Atlantic County, Dorothy embraced life in Melbourne Beach, Florida, where she continued to entertain friends, neighbors, and family while enjoying the sunshine.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Frank Seney; her children, Christine Emmons, Frank Emmons, Donna Casey (Fran), Dorothy Wescoat (Bob), Marguerite Tomasello (Tony), and Frank Seney Jr. (Paula); as well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her brother Charlies Meyers, (Kathy), and predeceased by her sister Florence Shearn, (Myers) who will carry forward her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to Alyisha, the Senior Helpers, St. Francis Hospice, and the loving friends in the South Shores Development. Their care, compassion, and support brought comfort and peace during Dorothy's final days, and their kindness will never be forgotten.

Dorothy will be remembered for her warmth, devotion, and the joy she brought to every gathering. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her teaching, her cooking, her love of Disney, and her unwavering dedication to family and community.

I´m so very sorry to hear of the loss of your wonderful mom! Although they were many years ago in Smithville, no one could host pizza night like she did and her linguini and clams were the best! Everyone was always welcome! May all your cherished memories soften your sadness and may the love of friends and family bring you peace during this difficult time.
