Dorothy Barnett Silvera, 66, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away at East Carolina University Medical Center in Greenville, NC, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 20th at Grace Baptist Church in Newport, officiated by Rev. Dwayne Ebron. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens in Havelock. The family will receive friends at the Church an hour prior to the service.

Dorothy was born on April 19, 1957, in Trelawny, Jamaica, West Indies to Henry Barnett and Merlyn Williams. Dorothy's love for the Lord was not a mere sentiment but a deep-rooted commitment to living according to His will. She was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church where her volunteer work in the Sunday school department, participation in the choir, and working with the Nursing Home Ministry were all fulfilling experiences. Dorothy let her light shine wherever she went.
Dorothy had a diverse range of hobbies that kept her engaged and creative. She loved to crochet, and with amazing skill, she created beautiful and intricate designs. Being from Jamaica she was always cooking incredible Jamaican-style food bursting with delicious flavor. Dorothy wasn't afraid to tackle a do-it-yourself project and was always satisfied when able to complete something with her own hands. Her dedication to keeping her home neat and pristine was a reflection of her disciplined nature and appreciation for orderliness. It brought her a sense of tranquility and she took joy in sharing that with others who visited her. These are just a few of the activities that brought Dorothy joy.
Dorothy's life exemplified the transformative power of love and faith, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a loving and caring woman who will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, daughter, and aunt. Dorothy's supportive and nurturing presence was invaluable, and impactful and will carry on through her family who loved her beyond measure.

Silvera of Cincinnati, OH, Felcia Silvera of Jamaica, and Shantelle Duncan of Miami, FL.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Silvera, and father, Henry Barnett.
