Bloomfield-Dorothy (Marble) Strapp, age 92, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by her family. She is survived by four children, Sharon (Mark) Gilbride, Sheila (Bill) Weld, Edward (Karen) Strapp and Margaret (Jim) Tiffany; 13 grandchildren, Rebecca (Frank) Pezzimenti, Jessica (Joel) Segar, Kiel (Stacie) Gilbride, Meaghan (Adam) Ambielli, Hannah (Zach) Knight, Adam (Jill) Weld, Erin Landcastle, Steven (Kelly) Strapp, Jorden Strapp, Kaitlyn (Nathan) Tiffany, Lauren Tiffany, Kimberly Tiffany, and Sophia Tiffany; 14 great-grandchildren, Dominic, Dante, Delilah, Benjamin, William, Vivianna, Victor, Alessi, Mira, Evie, Damien, Emma, Jaxson, and Luka; devoted sister, Mary Diane Marcellus; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Edward Strapp in 2010; sister, Barbara Hudson in 1999; and brother, Harrison Marble in 2010.
Dorothy was raised in Bristol, NY, by her beloved parents, Edith and Earl Marble. She treasured her childhood there, which she shared with her siblings and lifelong best friends, Barb, Diny, and Harrisey. As a young woman, Dorothy attended nursing school, married her husband Ed, and started her family on Baker Road in Bloomfield. Her days were more than full. Dorothy was a maternity nurse at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua for 40 years, work of which she was proud. At the same time, she helped her husband on the farm, raised four children, and often opened her home to family members in their times of need.
Throughout a lifetime of hard work, Dorothy never lost her sense of humor or her joy in the everyday. Eventually, her children raised their own families on Baker Road, and her grandchildren delighted in going to her and grandpa's house for sleepovers and holidays. Dorothy entertained them with her incredible original stories, inventive Halloween costumes and once, a homespun Baker Road circus. Her great-grandchildren also got the chance to enjoy her creativity and her love of silly fun, and she cherished her time with them.
In her later years, Dorothy was happiest visiting at the kitchen table with a family member or friend, sharing a cup of coffee and hearing what was new. She was a dedicated member of Ionia United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and chaired many a strawberry social or biscuit dinner. At church and around Bloomfield, Dorothy was known to everyone she met as Grandma Dottie. She lived in a small town, but her world was wide because of her sincere curiosity about other people, all of whom she believed worthy of her interest and deserving of her care. Dorothy's family shared her with the many, many friends and neighbors who were lucky to cross her path.
Friends may call Sunday, December 28, from 2-4 pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 2 South Ave., Bloomfield. Her memorial service will be held Monday, December 29, at 11 am, at Ionia United Methodist Church, 2021 Elton Rd., Ionia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456, Ionia United Methodist Church, 2021 Elton Rd., Ionia, NY 14469, Ontario Co. I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working with "Dot" for many years on maternity at FFTH. I will remember her smiling eyes and the beautiful family she left behind. She will live on in all of you!

Dorothy will be greatly missed. When I was pastor at Ionia UMC, she was a great help to me. I loved her in Jesus Christ, and I know she will be missed by family and friends. Rest in peace Dorothy. Pastor Mary Anne Wickett.

I met Dorothy shortly after churches opened for in person worship following the pandemic. My husband I joined Ionia UMC where Dorothy had already served for decades. The warmth, love, and wisdom she exuded that day and every day we were together - she became an instant friend and confidant. She brought up serving others frequently - in her support for world missions and the neighbor down the street, Dorothy planned, pitched in and delivered. Her determination to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, to serve, and sacrifice followed her all of her days and she will live in His house forever. Peace to all who loved her dearly - thank you for sharing her with so many.

I worked with Dottie for many years on the Birthing Center at Thompson Hospital. She was a woman of kindness, integrity, professionalism and a wicked sense of humor. Always a smile, a kind word and a willingness to help; a truly wonderful human being.
