Dorothy Taylor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Gadsden Funeral Home from Jun. 5 to Jun. 18, 2025.
Mrs. Dorothy Nell Taylor was born on February 15, 1939, in Cave Springs, GA to the late Quinn Erwin & Rosie Lee Wright.
She confessed Christ at an early age. She was educated in the Georgia School System.
Dot, as people affectionately called her, loved going to church and imparting wisdom into anyone she encountered. She loved taking care of everyone and feeding them home cooked meals after church. Gathering with family and friends was one of her favorite past-times, her love for card games, bingo to be specific, will always be a fond memory. She had the gift of making people laugh and she was always the life of the party.
She loved helping anyone she could, she did not discriminate when it came to being compassionate. But one thing for sure, she did not play the radio. Whatever came up, came out! One thing that everyone knew about Ms. Dorothy, she had a big heart. Even in her not playing the radio, you knew it was from a pure place of love and concern.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Griffin Taylor; son Forrest Erwin; sisters Jessie Hutchins and Annie Sue Jackson; brother Hurbert Erwin; and grandson Javon Erwin.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Ruth (Kenny Irish) Williams of Atlanta, GA and Donna K. Erwin of Gadsden, AL.; Sons Randy (Shelia) Erwin of Gadsden, AL and Michael Erwin of Anniston, AL.; nine grandchildren; a special grandson Michael Taylor; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Wright of Cleveland, OH and Betty Rivers; special friends, Linda Erwin, Sarita Mallard, Rhonda Turner, Sylvia "Sip" Spears Holifield and Mary Moore and a host of cousins other relatives and friends.
Public Visitation will be held from 12-6pm on Friday, June 20, 2025 at West Gadsden Funeral Home.
Family Hour will be held from 6pm-8pm following public visitation.
Funeral Services will be held at 12noon on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at New Canaan Baptist Church.
Interment will be at Kirks Grove Cemetery, Centre, AL.
