Dorothy Tipton, age 97, widow of Morgan Tipton, passed into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her family at her home in Stanton, Kentucky, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born on October 20, 1927, to the late Darcy Abner and the late Della Brewer Abner. In her youth, Dorothy was an enthusiastic athlete, reveling in the thrill of playing softball and exploring a variety of sports. Her love for the outdoors extended to her dedication in helping her husband with the family's farming endeavors. Dorothy's professional journey began at Cowden Clothing Company, where her skills and commitment eventually led her to an office position. After many fulfilling years, she transitioned to the Creosote Plant and continued with Burke, Parsons, and Bowlby, serving as a secretary before embracing retirement. Yet, her love for numbers and service continued as she devoted her time to preparing tax returns at H&R Block. A true game enthusiast, Dorothy cherished times spent playing cards and engaging in lively board games with her beloved family. She had an immense affection for her family, relishing every moment spent visiting with them and nurturing friendships that spanned decades. Watching her grandchildren compete in sports brought her immense joy and pride. Dorothy was actively involved in the Stanton Women's Club and Stanton First Presbyterian Church, where she formed lasting connections with fellow members. Her faith and church commitment were evident in her involvement with the Women's Missionary Circle, and as she shared her passion for teaching the Bible in middle school Sunday School classes for over 40 years, imparting wisdom and kindness to generations of students. Additionally, she dedicated more than 25 years to teaching Bible classes at the Dessie Scott Children's Home in Pine Ridge, Kentucky, where she reached out to those in need with her generous spirit. With a heart enveloped in warmth and grace, Dorothy embodied a sweet humility and an unwavering kindness. Her true Christian spirit shone brightly in all her endeavors, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister, Georgetta Fannin. She is survived by one son: Michael (Susan) Tipton of Stanton; two daughters: Connie (Gary) Crabtree of Stanton, and Georgia (Rodney) Hill of Jupiter, Florida; seven grandchildren: John (Anna) Tipton, Laura (Jared) Cockrell, Brooke Crabtree, Paige Crabtree, Dane Hill, Layne (Devin) Harkness, and Zane Hill; thirteen great-grandchildren: Darcy Lawson, Delaney Cockrell, Colin Tipton, Nicholas Tipton, Garrett Smallwood, Conleigh Smallwood, Asher Crabtree, Ivie Crabtree, Eli Crabtree, Lucas Harkness, Henry Harkness, Palmer Harkness, and Huxley Hill; and two special friends: Wilma Rule and Esther Kearns. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Stanton Cemetery with John Tipton, Colin Tipton, Nicholas Tipton, Dane Hill, Zane Hill, Jared Cockrell, Devin Harkness, and Garrett Smallwood serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the ladies of the Stanton First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
