Dorothy Trief Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sinai Memorial Chapels - Delray Beach on Feb. 27, 2026.
Dorothy Trief, 97, passed peacefully on February 26, 2026, with loving family members by her side. She was born on January 30th, 1929, in Brooklyn, New York. Dorothy married George Trief, her beloved husband of 65 1/2 years, on April 11th, 1954. They settled in Dorothy's hometown of Brooklyn, New York, where they raised their three children.

In their retirement years, they spent summers upstate New York and the winter months in Delray Beach, Florida. Eventually they lived year-round in Florida and welcomed frequent visits from their children and grandsons.

Dorothy loved playing bridge and going to the casino. She also loved fine dining-going out to eat (especially with her beloved family members), and enjoying good meals, was her favorite pastime.

Dorothy loved her family unconditionally, and was an incredibly kind, selfless, compassionate, strong, funny, and exceptional woman. She was truly a unique woman who will always be defined by her kindness and selflessness.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her son, Frank Trief, and daughter-in-law, Donna Trief, of Stamford, CT; Frank's amazing sons, Jarrod and Jordan; and her son, Steven Trief, and his wife, of Randolph, NJ, and their son and daughter.

She is predeceased by her loving and beautiful daughter, Joyce Trief; her incredible husband of 65 1/2 years, George Trief; and daughter-in-law, Frank's late wife, Suzy Trief.

Shiva will be held at the residence of Frank and Donna Trief following services, 11 Wildwood Road, Stamford, CT 06903, Thursday (3/5/2026) from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., and Friday (3/6/2026), from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
