On January 22, 1950, Dorothy Turner was born to Dorothy Bell Griffin of Bedias, Texas, and Justine Holiday of Shiro, Texas. Dorothy graduated from Marian Anderson High School in 1968 and began nursing school shortly thereafter. Dorothy had a blessed nursing career that began at Madison County Hospital where she served faithfully for many years. She later moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for Houston Rehabilitation Hospital and the home healthcare industry.
Dorothy married Frank Turner and to this union, one child, Eric F. Turner, was born. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Turner; her mother, Dorothy Bell Griffin; her father, Justine Holiday; and her son, Eric Turner.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two grandchildren, Eric “DeWayne” Turner and Shakail Evans; four great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Kaliah, Lyric, and Jayden; five brothers, Charles Samuel, Aaron Holiday (Pearl), Isiak Holiday, Melvin Holiday, and Nathaniel Holiday; and four sisters, Patricia Sampson, Ira Jean Robinson (Jackie), Barbara Vaughn and Earnestine Jefferson.
Also cherishing her memories are three sisters-in-laws, Alice Turner, Arletha Turner, and Betty Williams; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Turner (Melody), all of Madisonville, Texas. Dorothy’s memories will also be cherished by a very special lifetime friend, Mary Curtis, and a host of other family and friends.
A homegoing service, officiated by Pastor James O. Holiday and Pastor Toni Green, will be conducted at 3 P.M. on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Madisonville Funeral Home. Mrs. Turner will be laid to rest in West End Cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.

Final arrangements for Dorothy Marie Turner are under the compassionate care and direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
